Who we are
Hertford Buddhist Group is a small, volunteer-run Buddhist community based in Hertford, Hertfordshire. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information collected through this website.

What we collect
When you sign up to our mailing list or contact us through this site, we may collect:
- your name
- your email address
- any message or information you choose to send us
We do not collect payment details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use your information to:
- send you news about classes, events and activities you’ve asked to hear about
- reply to enquiries you send us
Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is consent — you choose to give us your details and you can withdraw that consent at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any point.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information and we never share it for marketing by anyone else.
We use a third-party email service to manage our mailing list and send emails. They process your information on our behalf under their own data protection terms. We don’t share your information with anyone else unless we are legally required to do so.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you remain subscribed or in contact with us. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we remove it promptly.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- withdraw your consent at any time
- object to how we use your information
